I've been sewing since my grandmother taught me to thread a needle at age 8. 
I have memories of her teaching me the back stitch and straight stitch and the the little trick of knotting the end of the thread with 2 fingers on my right hand.  We embroidered, we crocheted... I always had my hands in something!

Bruno is a tribute to my grandmother and all of the extraordinary, inspiring women in my family. 
It is her maiden name. 
She is tenacious, makes a mean cabbage roll, can cut a rug like nobody's business, 
and is always up for an adventure!

For starters, my name is Michelle Kline and I live and work in Portland Oregon.

The short version of my journey to "here" started with my first solo move to upstate NY to study
Fine Art at Alfred University. After two and a half years there, and the realization that I didn't have enough life experience to inform my art, I decided to quit school and head to Albuquerque NM for some good desert living. That was the first time that I really fell in love with a "place". Best sunsets ever. 
3 or 4 years later, I hitched a ride to New Orleans with a suitcase and ended up staying for several years pursuing art and fine metal work and glass and sewing and a bunch of other stuff - but mostly just staying up late, biking around at all hours, and partying too much.
I decided to move to Olympia WA in 1998 to finish my art degree at Evergreen. I did that while running a little speakeasy/music/art/film venue called Hi-Lo.  Olympia is a magical place and I learned a lot there.
After 5 years in Oly, I moved to Portland and 10 years later, here I am, still exploring the beautiful Northwest and always finding new things, new places, and new people to love.  

xobruno comes from a love of canvas and leather and the way they compliment each other so nicely. 
I love the texture, feel and smell of leather and the way it personalizes to you over time. 
I'm inspired by classic design, a unisex sensibility and a bag that will stick around through thick and thin.

EVERY BAG IS HANDMADE TO ORDER RIGHT HERE IN OUR PORTLAND STUDIO!
upon receipt of payment all orders are insured and shipped usps priority mail in 5 - 10 week days. (unless noted otherwise)
shipping and handling based on percentage of total amount purchased.

after you purchase an item, you will immediately get a confirmation email from PayPal.
as soon as we finish making your item, you will receive an email to notify you that your order has been shipped which will also contain tracking information for your package.

international / rates:
international orders are shipped usps global priority.
canada & mexico: additional $10
rest of the world: additional $16
this will be added to your payment through paypal.

ALL SALES FINAL
However, if you receive your bag and are not happy with it, you can return it for in-store credit so long as you notify us within 7 days of receiving your order. please make sure not to remove the tag. 
if item is damaged, defective or an incorrect order, you must contact us via email within 7 days of receiving shipment. upon receipt of your order (unused, with tag) we will send a replacement. you will not be charged s+h.

any store interested in carrying xobruno items or receiving a wholesale price list should send an email with the name of your store, description of store and web address, location, and contact information.

C A R E   &  M A I N T E N A N C E 

WAX INFUSED CANVAS: The best way to clean the bags and not harm the water repellent finish is to sponge them off using just water.  If more cleaning is needed, hand washing using a brush with mild soap and hanging the bag to dry.  
**Do not wash in washing machine or dry clean** If the bags are washed and dried in a machine they will shrink and lose some of the water repellency and their appearance will be changed. Dry cleaning will harm the water repellent finish.

LEATHER: simple soap and water. Air dry.  I like to use BLACKROCK Leather ''N' Rich to clean, soften and preserve the leather over time. Apply with a soft cotton cloth and wipe off with a separate cotton cloth. 

WOOL: Mild soap and water applied with a clean cotton cloth. Air dry.
